When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jimmy Horn Jr. at No. 224, a reach of 74 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Booker at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get a sticky cover corner. More want than need.
Ozzy Trapilo in No. 36 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Sonny Styles in pick No. 68 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tyler Warren in Round 3, Pick 19 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 105th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Emery Jones Jr. in slot 142, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Xavier Nwankpa at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jimmy Horn Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Jake Briningstool here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
