New York Giants

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Giants and DeJean: B.

Future A+

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Giants, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The DeJean pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.16 · Pick 16 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 22
In slot 16 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 21
Circle this one: Cooper DeJean at the 47th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Malachi Corley · WR · rank 50
They barely believed it either: Malachi Corley still on the board at Round 3, Pick 6. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · DJ James · CB · rank 93
Taking DJ James in pick 113 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.18 · Pick 118 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 112
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Spencer Rattler. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.29 · Pick 165 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 161
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Magee went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 141
Christian Jones in Round 5, Pick 30 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · AJ Barner · TE · rank 166
AJ Barner at the 183rd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.15 · Pick 235 · Keith Randolph Jr. · DL-EDGE · rank 218
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Keith Randolph Jr. at pick 235. The roster fit checks out.
