They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Giants' quarterback, full stop.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took DeJean.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If McCarthy pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Bottom line, with J.J. McCarthy leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Malik Nabers went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
In the 13th overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Circle this one: Cooper DeJean at pick No. 49 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled T.J. Tampa all the way to slot 70, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
MarShawn Lloyd is a better player than Round 4, Pick 6 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Theo Johnson at the Round 4 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cedric Gray in No. 115 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A quiet steal in the 141st pick: Johnny Wilson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Roger Rosengarten at No. 146. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick 183 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
