When a board-topper like Malachi Moore slides to No. 174, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Lindenberg has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 18 they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that.
They took Tyleik Williams at par in pick No. 44, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Savion Williams at No. 76 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Darien Porter at the 82nd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Logan Brown in the 149th pick, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Shough at pick 171 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Malachi Moore at Round 5, Pick 36 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Cody Lindenberg at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Phil Mafah still on the board at slot 211. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 239 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Luke Lachey at the 247th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
