The Steelers' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it.
They banked enough surplus on Pregnon to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot.
They let Emmanuel Pregnon come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 21. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Zakee Wheatley at pick 99. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Darrell Jackson Jr. at par in pick No. 100, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Harold Perkins Jr. went about where he belonged in the 135th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Drew Allar in No. 161 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Tyren Montgomery for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
