The rest of the league will want that one back. Sheridan Jones tumbling to the Packers in the 245th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Every board in the league had Tampa lower, and that gap is the story.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
They did well to land Jordan Morgan in the 41st overall pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Good price on Junior Colson in Round 2, Pick 26, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Trey Benson at slot 88 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Maason Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach for Beau Brade in pick 126; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Khristian Boyd in pick No. 169 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They went early on Garret Greenfield in the 202nd pick, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tylan Grable in pick 219 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for Sheridan Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They jumped the gun on Trey Taylor, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
