Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
The Ali pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
The board had cheaper options than T.J. Tampa at pick No. 41, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A conviction pick on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the Round 2 slot that the board grades a round light. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A clean, defensible pick in the 88th overall pick with a little surplus value in Jaden Hicks. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach for Roger Rosengarten in pick 126; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Khristian Boyd at the 169th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Drake Nugent at No. 202 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Tylan Grable in pick No. 219 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
They went early on Rasheen Ali in the Round 7 slot, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid a round early for Trey Taylor in No. 255, more than the board wanted. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
