Start where it matters. The Vikings took J.J. McCarthy to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
If Anderson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value.
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade. The biggest hole, addressed.
They liked Blake Fisher enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 108. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A big swing on Marist Liufau at No. 129, well ahead of any board in the building. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Grayson Murphy in Round 5, Pick 21 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Brandon Coleman at the 167th pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Garret Greenfield at the 219th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Jowon Briggs at pick No. 230, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Evan Anderson well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
