You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If Nowakowski pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That Rodriguez pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Christen Miller in pick No. 52; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jacob Rodriguez in the 84th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Davison Igbinosun at No. 120 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kage Casey. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Sawyer Robertson at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Andre Fuller at the 236th pick is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Riley Nowakowski at Round 7, Pick 39 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
