Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Liufau pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. However the rest shakes out, McGlothern at that price is a win they earned.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Jayden Daniels in slot 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Ja'Tavion Sanders went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Chris Braswell at the 38th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kiran Amegadjie at Round 3, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Zak Zinter at No. 104, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Braelon Allen in pick No. 106, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Marist Liufau at the 136th overall pick, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Cornelius Johnson at pick 182 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Dwight McGlothern, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Trey Knox in pick No. 229 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
