The Chiefs' one glaring miss is tight end, a need they left exactly as they found it.
The Lovett pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Patrick Paul at No. 64 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Mohamed Kamara in pick No. 132, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Walter Rouse in the 159th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Fabien Lovett at the 173rd overall pick that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
