The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Graham Barton, the No. 25 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 2 slot like a gift left on the doorstep.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Every board in the league had Hopper lower, and that gap is the story.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Junior Colson. A minor itch, scratched.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Graham Barton reach pick No. 58 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kingsley Suamataia in slot 61 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at pick 73 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Steal is underselling it; Devontez Walker at No. 90 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Trey Benson at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cam Hart in Round 4, Pick 26 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They went early on Kitan Oladapo in slot 138, and the value did not follow. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Value said wait; Ty'Ron Hopper in pick No. 150 says they were not listening. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Travis in the 169th pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Logan Lee at the 180th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach on Garret Greenfield in pick 202; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Dominique Hampton at Round 6, Pick 39 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A tidy bit of business in No. 219, where Ryan Flournoy graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 245 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Ryan Watts at the 249th pick that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Tylan Grable was still sitting there in the 255th overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
