The rest of the league will want that one back. Trey Amos tumbling to the Packers in slot 250 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Taking Walter Nolen in No. 54 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ashton Jeanty in pick No. 87 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Jahdae Barron here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Wyatt Milum at slot 158 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Tre Harris was still sitting there in the 196th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at the 237th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a cornerback like Trey Amos reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
