The Tip Reiman pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 53 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Landing Coleman that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
There is no spinning it; the board won this weekend going away.
Pick-by-Pick
Value said wait; Kingsley Suamataia in slot 36 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reach for T.J. Tampa in pick No. 40; a little patience would have been rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Kris Jenkins at the 42nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Keon Coleman in the 64th pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They jumped the gun on Isaac Guerendo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good price on Johnny Wilson in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malik Mustapha in slot 158 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
