Green Bay Packers

Best value of the weekend goes to the Packers for Hicks: B-.

Priorities are a choice, and the Packers made a strange one, taking Jaden Hicks at safety in pick 91 with cornerback, quarterback and other spots crying out for the pick instead. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They banked enough surplus on Hicks to cover a lot of smaller sins. The cost of the Robinson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 37
In pick No. 25 they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 28
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Graham Barton at the 41st overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 60
Javon Bullard at No. 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 86
Blake Corum at pick 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 72
A curious use of Round 3, Pick 28. Cornerback, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Jaden Hicks did not.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 126
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
