The Zion Logue pick is the one that will follow the Cowboys into the fall. They took him 77 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The McCaffrey pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 30 they get a potential shutdown corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Junior Colson in slot 58 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ja'Lynn Polk slipping to the 87th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Patrick Paul at pick No. 93 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Jaylen Wright was still sitting there in the 127th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kalen King at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value said wait; Zion Logue in pick No. 213 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Luke McCaffrey all the way to Round 7, Pick 11, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid a round early for Kenny Logan Jr. in pick 242, more than the board wanted. A minor itch, scratched.
