They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Javon Foster, 28 picks early at pick 91.
However the rest shakes out, McCormick at that price is a win they earned. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a wrecking ball inside at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Cooper Beebe in Round 2, Pick 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at the 58th pick, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They did well to land Jaden Hicks in the 88th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Javon Foster at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on Isaac Guerendo in pick 126; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Mason McCormick at the 169th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had cheaper options than Drake Nugent at pick No. 202, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Sheridan Jones in pick 219 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Josh Proctor at slot 245 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They barely believed it either: Trevin Wallace still on the board at No. 255. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
