Thirty-one other rooms let Braelon Allen slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at slot 203. Highway robbery.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 19
Kool-Aid McKinstry at pick 25 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 30
They read the board right and Tyler Nubin was the payoff at pick No. 41. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 40
Tyler Guyton slid further than he should have, and No. 57 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 72
Blake Corum at the 88th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 71
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · DJ James · CB · rank 114
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing DJ James in the 126th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 143
Luke McCaffrey at slot 168 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 159
Steal is underselling it; Braelon Allen at Round 6, Pick 28 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 179
They barely believed it either: Roger Rosengarten still on the board at pick 216. It fills a real need, too.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 208
Christian Jones at pick No. 243 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 246
Nothing to complain about; Steele Chambers went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
