Arizona Cardinals

A mixed bag for the Cardinals, and a C+ to match.

For all the boxes ticked, the Cardinals skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.

If Miller pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.

If Caleb Downs and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Caleb Downs · S · rank 1
Fair-plus on Caleb Downs, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Blake Miller · OT · rank 45
A reach for Blake Miller in pick No. 34; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Jake Golday · OLB · rank 58
Good price on Jake Golday in pick 65, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Domonique Orange · DT · rank 74
By-the-book stuff, Domonique Orange at Round 3, Pick 6 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
