Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Jets: C+.

The Jets went off the board in a big way for Garrett Nussmeier, 35 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. The Deebo Samuel deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

McNeil-Warren at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.7 · Pick 7 · Carnell Tate · WR · rank 11
A straight-up fair deal on Carnell Tate at pick 7, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
R1.25 · Pick 25 · CJ Allen · LB · rank 31
In the 25th overall pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. More want than need.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · Akheem Mesidor · DL-EDGE · rank 37
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Akheem Mesidor. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Garrett Nussmeier · QB · rank 79
Value said wait; Garrett Nussmeier in Round 2, Pick 12 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Emmanuel McNeil-Warren · S · rank 51
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick No. 60 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
