The war room fell hard for Drew Allar, and it showed at Round 3, Pick 12: 80 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. The Orange pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot.
They jumped the gun on Zachariah Branch, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Drew Allar well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had Domonique Orange higher than No. 85, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Chandler Rivers at slot 99 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
