The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

That Simpson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

The cost of the Ulofoshio reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
