The rest of the league will want that one back. Ro Torrence tumbling to the Chargers in slot 225 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They will need Limmer to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cooper DeJean in Round 1, Pick 18. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Troy Franklin at pick 37 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Junior Colson in the 49th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Blake Corum in No. 69 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Dominick Puni graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Mekhi Wingo at the 105th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Beaux Limmer at slot 110 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Tommy Eichenberg in pick No. 140; it is a wash and a sensible one. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jacob Cowing in the 181st overall pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Malik Mustapha at pick 194 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board fumbled Ro Torrence all the way to slot 225, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Michael Barrett in the 253rd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
