Boards are made to be trusted, and the Dolphins shredded theirs for Taulia Tagovailoa. He came off 89 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get an anchor for the offensive line, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
They took Max Melton at par in slot 93, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
By-the-book stuff, Luke McCaffrey at pick 157 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Taulia Tagovailoa in the 186th overall pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 25 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick No. 239 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
