Kansas City Chiefs

Good, not great, for the Chiefs: B-.

The tape said wait; the Chiefs did not. De'Corian Clark went at No. 252, a good 25 picks before the board was ready. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Ladd McConkey · WR · rank 34
In slot 32 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 69
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Patrick Paul. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 96
By-the-book stuff, Khyree Jackson at the 95th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 156
Isaiah Davis at pick 159 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Brennan Jackson · DE-EDGE · rank 155
Brennan Jackson at No. 161 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.37 · Pick 173 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 182
They liked Tip Reiman enough to skip the value, taking him in the 173rd overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 277
They reached a country mile for De'Corian Clark at slot 252, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
