The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Every board in the league had Sinnott lower, and that gap is the story. Landing Goncalves that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The Commanders indulged a want in Colson while a need in wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots stayed open.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
