The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Bailey: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Emani Bailey got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at Round 7, Pick 23.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 10
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 25
Nice patience on Kool-Aid McKinstry, who had no business lasting to the 41st pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 43
Edgerrin Cooper slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 57
Taking Kingsley Suamataia in slot 88 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 73
Xavier Legette in pick 91 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Jarvis Brownlee Jr. · CB · rank 112
The board had Jarvis Brownlee Jr. higher than pick No. 127, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 146
Tykee Smith in the 168th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 177
Isaac Guerendo at No. 204 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 219
Garret Greenfield at No. 216 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Emani Bailey · RB · rank 208
Emani Bailey at the 243rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · KT Leveston · OT · rank 236
Value with a capital V on KT Leveston in the Round 7 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
