The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ozzy Trapilo, the No. 85 name on the board, in No. 145. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Will Campbell went about where he belonged in pick 4. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at Round 2, Pick 6 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Xavier Watts in slot 69 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A slide stopped in the 77th pick, with Quinshon Judkins worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Jaylin Noel for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Ozzy Trapilo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Howard Cross III in the 219th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cam Jackson at pick No. 222 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jermari Harris at the 240th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
