Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Cowboys spent No. 244 on Zion Logue, a name most had 46 spots down the list. A weekend of give and take that grades a C.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Milton III at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
If Adonai Mitchell and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reach on Patrick Paul in pick 56; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 87 with a little surplus value in Khyree Jackson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Trey Benson come to them and pounced at the 107th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Tommy Eichenberg, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tanor Bortolini in pick No. 173 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Joe Milton III in Round 6, Pick 41, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Trevin Wallace at par in pick 233, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
