You build a draft on nights like this. Jacob Cowing had no business being available in pick No. 184, and the Dolphins did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Quinyon Mitchell at the 21st pick, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
T'Vondre Sweat at No. 55 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Roger Rosengarten is a better player than Round 5, Pick 22 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jacob Cowing at pick 184 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Joe Milton III at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nice patience on Tip Reiman, who had no business lasting to the 241st overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
