The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 233 on Zion Logue a full 57 spots early.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The Devin White pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Landing Wilson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Payton Wilson at the Round 2 slot is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A real head-scratcher, Braelon Allen in pick No. 87 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Beaux Limmer went about where he belonged in No. 120. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 135 with a little surplus value in Johnny Wilson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Dwight McGlothern at the 173rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trevin Wallace in slot 216, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Zion Logue in the 233rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached a country mile for Sam Hartman at the 244th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
