Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jarrian Jones got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at pick 169.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Every board in the league had Owens lower, and that gap is the story.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 20th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Javon Bullard in slot 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid sticker price for Blake Corum in the 88th pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Mohamed Kamara at pick No. 126 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Jarrian Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They liked Tyler Owens enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Ryan Watts in No. 255 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
