Thirty-one other rooms let Javon Foster slide, and the Chiefs were the ones holding the card at the 159th pick. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 21
In pick 32 they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 67
They took Xavier Worthy at par in Round 2, Pick 32, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 57
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 95 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 108
Circle this one: Braelon Allen at the 132nd pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 120
They robbed the room for Javon Foster here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.37 · Pick 173 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 149
The board fumbled Luke McCaffrey all the way to No. 173, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 244
A slide stopped in pick No. 252, with Josh Proctor worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
