The Cowboys did not so much draft Zion Logue as overpay for him, 57 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. On value alone, Coleman makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brian Thomas Jr.. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach for Khyree Jackson in Round 3, Pick 4; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Keon Coleman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at No. 103, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Jaylan Ford at pick 174 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dylan McMahon. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Zion Logue at slot 233, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had cheaper options than Carter Bradley at Round 7, Pick 24, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
