The trade table was a mismatch, and the Cowboys were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
However the rest shakes out, Washington at that price is a win they earned. The Gray pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Zach Frazier at No. 56 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cedric Gray at Round 3, Pick 24 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Audric Estime at slot 88 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a safety like Kitan Oladapo reach the 174th overall pick and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Circle this one: Tahj Washington at pick No. 216 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sheridan Jones in the 233rd pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Michael Barrett at No. 244 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
