Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Cowboys spent No. 216 on Zion Logue, a name most had 70 spots down the list.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. On value alone, Morgan makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
They robbed the room for Jordan Morgan here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They liked Khyree Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 12. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on Braelon Allen at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Beaux Limmer at slot 121 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Jaylan Ford at the 174th pick, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zion Logue at No. 216 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Frank Gore Jr. in pick 233. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kedon Slovis at Round 7, Pick 24 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
