Thirty-one other rooms let Mason McCormick slide, and the Chiefs were the ones holding the card at Round 5, Pick 37. Highway robbery.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in the 64th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Javon Baker in pick 95 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had Josh Newton higher than the 132nd pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Nehemiah Pritchett slid further than he should have, and pick No. 159 is lovely value for the cornerback. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They barely believed it either: Mason McCormick still on the board at slot 173. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
