The Packers did not so much draft Jarrett Kingston as overpay for him, 79 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Polk to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a problem off the edge, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Kingsley Suamataia in the 58th overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 25, with Ja'Lynn Polk worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Beaux Limmer went about where he belonged in pick No. 126. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Dylan Laube in pick 169, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They jumped the gun on Garret Greenfield, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
