They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Giants' quarterback, full stop.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Adding Ikem Ekwonu by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, J.J. McCarthy and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 18 they get their quarterback of the future, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Brian Thomas Jr. at pick No. 33 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Legette in Round 3, Pick 6, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Zak Zinter at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Trevor Keegan at par in the 141st pick, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Jase McClellan at the 190th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
