The Cowboys bet big and early on Barryn Sorrell, 104 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The McCord steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Tetairoa McMillan at pick No. 12 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jihaad Campbell at Round 2, Pick 12 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Dylan Sampson for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Raheim Sanders in No. 149, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Vernon Broughton at pick 171 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kyle McCord in slot 174 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Jaylen Reed still on the board at the 204th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Barryn Sorrell well ahead of where he belonged. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Steal is underselling it; Ricky White III at pick No. 239 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Hayden Conner in the 247th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
