When the story of this class is written, it opens with Kedon Slovis at pick 242, a reach of 72 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
The Coleman pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Kenny Clark gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Tyler Guyton at par in the 25th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Keon Coleman all the way to slot 58, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Trey Benson at pick 87 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid a round early for Nelson Ceaser in pick No. 127, more than the board wanted. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A wild overpay on Jaylan Ford in Round 5, Pick 37, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Curtis Jacobs is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Frank Gore Jr. in pick 231. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kedon Slovis at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
