The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Sataoa Laumea, the Round 6 slot, roughly 62 picks past where he belonged.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Goncalves proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bo Nix in slot 34. It fills a real need, too.
Good price on Bralen Trice in the 68th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Matt Goncalves a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Roger Rosengarten in the 137th pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Dwight McGlothern at Round 6, Pick 5 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Sataoa Laumea in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Jha'Quan Jackson in pick No. 231 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
