The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Ryan Flournoy, the No. 202 name on the board, sitting there at pick 233 like a gift left on the doorstep. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Reaching for Jefferson left real value on the table behind him.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Zach Frazier went about where he belonged in pick 56. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A conviction pick on Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 38 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled M.J. Devonshire all the way to No. 216, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Ryan Flournoy still on the board at the 233rd pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 244, where Tatum Bethune graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
