The war room fell hard for Vincent Anthony Jr., and it showed at pick No. 168: 52 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Golday pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Dillon Thieneman at the 40th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Jake Golday at pick 91 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Darrell Jackson Jr., who had no business lasting to slot 109. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malik Benson in the Round 4 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Ar'maj Reed-Adams at No. 165, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Vincent Anthony Jr. in pick No. 168, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Toriano Pride Jr. at slot 210 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Isaiah Jatta in No. 220 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
