The Chiefs clearly saw something nobody else did in Trey Zuhn III, taking him 29 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Landing Stowers that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Value with a capital V on Sonny Styles in the Round 1 slot, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Caleb Banks at No. 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tight end of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 10 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bud Clark at the 109th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Charles Demmings in the 148th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No drama and no debate, Domani Jackson went about where he belonged in No. 169. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They went early on VJ Payne in the Round 5 slot, and the value did not follow. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Zuhn III. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
