This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Cody Schrader, the No. 174 name on the board, stolen at the 210th pick. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C-.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
Dallas Turner slipping to the 22nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
In the 23rd overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Xavier Worthy at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A slide stopped in pick 98, with Jaden Hicks worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Theo Johnson in slot 120 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nehemiah Pritchett in No. 161 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marist Liufau at pick No. 171 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Cody Schrader at Round 6, Pick 35 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
