If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Zion Logue at No. 216 is 70 spots clear of where he belonged.
However the rest shakes out, Polk at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that.
Patrick Paul in pick No. 62 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Payton Wilson in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ja'Lynn Polk in the 130th pick, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dillon Johnson at No. 134 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Nice patience on Dwight McGlothern, who had no business lasting to slot 174. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Zion Logue in the 216th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
