The Nick Barrett selection is the head-turner. The Browns reached 41 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
Landing Branch that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Pick-by-Pick
In the 20th overall pick they get a true top target at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
A slide stopped in No. 24, with Arvell Reese worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Chris Johnson in slot 39 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Emmanuel Pregnon at pick 49. It fills a real need, too.
Jake Slaughter in pick No. 70 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Zachariah Branch at Round 3, Pick 28 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaiah World. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; J.C. Davis in slot 112 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Malik Benson at pick 146 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Kaytron Allen in the 148th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Skyler Gill-Howard at No. 149 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Drew Allar. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Marlin Klein went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Andre Fuller, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nick Barrett well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
They read the board right and Fa'alili Fa'amoe was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
