You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bears did exactly that with Jordan Hall in the Round 7 slot. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
That Dixon pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had cheaper options than Michael Taaffe at Round 2, Pick 25, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Treydan Stukes well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Bryce Lance in the Round 3 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Davison Igbinosun at No. 129 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value said wait; Pat Coogan in slot 165 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Zuhn III in pick 220, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Thaddeus Dixon at No. 239 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jordan Hall at pick No. 241 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
