Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Browns came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
They are betting Barrett proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Landing Slaughter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 24th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Anthony Hill Jr. at No. 45 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They let Jake Slaughter come to them and pounced at the 70th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Malik Muhammad graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Kaytron Allen at pick No. 146, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Skyler Gill-Howard at pick 149 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
